Summary Edit

The film develops the origins of the characters on the show, as well as why Discord (after being defeated by the ponies) became evil and even includes a battle between Nightmare Moon (the villain whose eyes appear in the poster of season 4). The plot details a search for magic seeds that will destroy houses, rabbits and even enslaves many innocent ponies.

Production Edit

With MLP: FiM cancelled after the thirteenth episode of season 3, Hasbro wanted to satisfy many disappointed fans of the show. Lauren Faust was asked to consent to a contract in which his next few films would be distributed by Paramount.

The main titles were designed by Reel FX and the main on end titles were animated at DHX Media in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Merchandise Edit

Burger King distributed a set of toys along with the Burger King Kids' Club meal. Also, there were tie-ins with CC's chips and Nestlé ice cream as well as a Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita and PS3 video game based on the movie.

The video game was developed by Paramount Digital Entertainment and published by Hasbro. The Nintendo 3DS/PS Vita versions were released in stores on April 27, 2013 while the PS3 version was released on October 1, 2013, the same day as the home media release.

Home media Edit
