Forming the Foundation is a not-for-profit fan film made for fun based on the Future Foundation.

The movie was made because there may NEVER be a Future Foundation movie made, as SONY owns the rights to Spider-Man films. A sequel to this film, Spider-Man: A Night of Carnage was released in 2018.

Characters and Plot[]

  • Lucas Bridgeburner
  • Electro
  • Lizard/Dr. Connors

  • Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards
  • The Thing/Ben Grimm

8 years ago, Max Dillon gains powers and becomes Electro.

In the present day, The Lizard is rampaging once again after 3 years without an incident. Spider-Man appears and after a brief scuffle, subdues him before quickly leaving for his important meeting with Dr. Reed Richards at the Baxter Building.

Meanwhile, Electro seeks out the Baxter Building in order to absorb more power.

The Thing stumbles onto Electro absorbing power, but it is too late. The Thing is sent through a wall into the next room, instantly knocked out from the sheer impact of raw power. Electro quickly takes out Reed Richards, and intends to kill both Reed and The Thing, but is surprised by Spider-Man. After it takes a combined effort to defeat an overpowered, otherwise simple Electro, Reed Richards continues on where he left off: Welcoming Spider-Man aboard the Future Foundation.

There is also an after-credits scene of Electro speaking to Rhino over the phone.

Sequel & Cinematic Universe canon[]

A sequel was released in 2018. Spider-Man: A Night of Carnage included Carnage as the main villain, Venom as a minor antagonist and Spider-Woman as a featured hero as well. The film is the third in a line of Spider-Man fan films by YouTuber FireKracker44. The first film was Spider-Man: Three For All (2011), which featured Lizard and Punisher. The second film was Spider-Man: Forming the Foundation (2014), and featured Ben Grimm / The Thing, Electro and Mr. Fantastic.

Because YouTube is home to countless Spider-Man fan films, there were ideas to separate this cinematic universe from others. For instance, all three of these films contain one major villain, while featuring another hero. Spider-Man Three For All included Lizard as the main villain, with Punisher as the featured hero. Spider-Man: Forming the Foundation had Electro as the main villain (with Lizard returning as a minor villain) and highlighted The Thing - as well as Reed Richards as the featured heroes. Spider-Man: A Night of Carnage had Carnage as the main villain (and Venom as a minor villain) and featured Spider-Woman as the highlighted hero.

While there wasn't a linear storyline that carried itself over from one film to the next, there were minor points that did find themselves in multiple films. For example, Lizard went from the main villain in Spider-Man: Three For All to being in a brief scene in the second installment, Spider-Man: Forming the Foundation (2014), and the Future Foundation costume carried over from the second installment (Spider-Man: Forming the Foundation) to the third (Spider-Man: A Night of Carnage) - albeit, a different, more sleek version of the design. While Venom is not established in any film prior to his appearance in the third film, it is implied they had encountered each other off screen in between films.
